Guidelines for abstract submission 2023

Purpose of this guideline for the abstract submission for the ICON-IPEPC 2023 conference is to provide clear instructions before submitting an abstract.


Theme of the conference: Building & Implementing Community Competence
Sub Themes:

  1. Developing the concept of IPECP in community competence in IPECP curricula
  2. Methods and processes for building and implementing capacity in IPECP with communities
  3. Building an understanding of IPECP in team-based community care
  4. Building interprofessional team-based community competencies
  5. Evaluation of IPECP learning in and by communities
  6. Assessment of IPECP learning in and by communities
  7. Developing leadership and governance in IPECP to build community competence
  8. Applying appreciative enquiry to IPECP in communities.
  9. Simulating IPECP in community settings

INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE SUBMITTING ABSTRACT

Maximum word count is 300. Abstract should include the following:
Presentation: Select either Free paper or E-Poster
Subthemes: Select ONE key subtheme

  • Title: Title should be typed at the top of the poster / presentation and written capital bold letter.
  • Presenting author and co-authors (max 2): Name(s), department(s), institution(s) and country of author (s) should be stated clearly, directly below the title. Provide the surname(s) of the author(s) followed by the initials. The name of the presenting author should be typed in Bold.

Introduction: To mention Research question and Objective of the study

Methods: Mention the design of the study, interventions, outcomes, statistical methods, and version of software used

Results: Observed results in summary form along with statistical inference as well as relevant Table/Image/Illustrations.

Discussion and Conclusion: To be brief and relevant supported by the findings within results; limitations of the study

Take home messages and future prospective

References: Relevant recent references. References is not must for E-Poster presentation.
Last date of Abstract submission: Abstract is to be emailed to mila.htay@manipal.edu.my with cc. to soumendra.sahoo@manipal.edu.my by 15th October 2023.

  • Abstract will be included in conference book upon payment of registration fee for the conference.
  • Abstract submitted should follow the themes and subtheme of the conference.
  • Once submitted abstract cannot be edited.
  • One author may submit more than one abstracts.
  • A maximum of one presenter is permitted and should be the person submitting the abstract.
  • It is not acceptable to submit the same study in multiple abstracts.
  • Abstracts that appear as more than one version of a single study will be rejected.
  • Final acceptance of abstract is reserved with the ICON-IPEPC scientific committee and advisory board.
  • The corresponding author will receive a confirmation of acceptance for free paper / e-poster presentation by 10th November 2023
  • If author wish to withdraw their abstracts, they are requested to send a letter via email to the conference secretariat before 15th Nov 2023.
  • Ensure that i) those authors’ name appear on the abstract have agreed to submission and its contents ii) possible patent and copyright issues are resolved before submission.
  • Organising committee is not responsible for if free paper / e-poster may be photographed, video-taped or recorded via other media during presentation.

Mode of presentation:

  • All posters are to be presented in English only.
  • Font must be in Arial/Times New Roman or Helvetica format.
  • Images must be in JPEG / PNG format at 72 or 96 dpi.
  • Preference: Free paper or e-poster presentation needs to be mentioned.
  • However final decision on mode of presentation is at the discretion of scientific committee.

Time allotment:
• Total 10 minutes (8 minutes presentation and 2 minutes discussion) for free paper presentation.
• Total 5 minutes for e-poster presentation. No Q/A for e-poster presentations


INFORMATION ON E-POSTER PRESENTATION:

  1. E-Posters to be presented in landscape orientation and in PDF format.
  2. Ensure that IPEPC ID No (to be provided at a later date) is included on the top left corner of your poster
  3. Title is to be printed at the top of the poster. (BOLD CAPITAL letters, Size: 24).
  4. Name(s), Department(s), Institution(s) and Country of author (s) should be stated clearly, directly below the title. Provide the Surname(s) of the Author(s) followed by initials, with the name of the presenting author in bold (Font size: 10).
  5. Rest of the slide includes the following:
    Introduction (font size: bold 18): To mention Research question / Objective of the study (text font size 18)
    Methods (font size: bold 18): Mention the design of the study, interventions, outcomes, statistical methods and version of software used (text font size 18)
    Results (font size: bold 18): Observed results in summary form along with statistical inference as well as relevant Table/Image/Illustrations. (text font size 18)
    Discussion and Conclusion (font size: bold 18): To be brief and relevant supported by the findings within results; limitations of the study (text font size 18)
    Take home messages and future prospective (font size: bold 18): (text font size 18)
    References (font size: bold 18): Relevant recent references. Not compulsory to be included. (text font size 18)
  6. Do include your assigned IPEPC ID No (Font size: 10) at the top left-hand corner of title text box. The IPEPC ID will be provided at a later date on confirmation of acceptance and registration
  7. PDF poster security settings: Please do not lock the PDF using a password (this is to enable us to put all the e-Posters together for presentation in a loop during the conference).
  8. Only single Power point slide is to be used for e-poster
    o Recommended font: Arial/Times New Roman/Helvetica
    o Layout: Landscape
    o Font size: as mentioned above
  9. View the presentation on a monitor i.e., 1920 x 1080 pixels to make sure images are sufficiently large with appropriate resolution.
  10. The E-Posters submitted will be deemed as final and no further changes to the poster will be allowed to the day of presentation.
  11. Deadline for E-Poster submission will be 30th November 2023.
  12. No changing of presentation session and slot is allowed during the conference.

JUDGES: Judges are selected by Organising committee. Judges will be provided with score sheet to evaluate the presentation by presenter. To avoid bias or conflict of interest, judges who have competing presenters will be avoided.
